Connect With Me

I hold very dear the concept of community engagement: real community engagement, which focuses on listening.  Your representatives can’t represent you if they don’t know you … so let me get to know you, as you get to know me.

Feedback can be left here on the site or sent to me directly at kendra@kendramyerscox.com.  I am looking forward to sitting down with Roswell citizens, one-on-one and in small groups, to hear what YOU have to say and what your hopes and dreams are for your city.

A few ideas to get you started …

— What do you like best about living in Roswell?

— What concerns you about Roswell’s future and direction?

— Describe some changes that you would make and some things that really work that you would build on.

— What do you want and expect from your City Council?

Thank you for sharing your thoughts and hopes!

  1. Wow, I’m so impressed. If memory serves me right, I should not be surprised that the Kendra from my daughter’s (Becky) days, has such aspirations. If it’s alright with you, I would like to forward your web site to my local friends. I’m still in the old abode and have neighbors who have been here as long as I have and I’m sure they’d like to read your web site, too. Becky mentioned that you’d like to put your sign in my yard and after reading your web site, I be honored to have your sign in my yard. Wishing you the very best.

  2. Kendra why did you choose to run for post six? From what I have been able to learn about you and Nancy I would like each of you on the council where some of the other posts the decision is not as clear to me.

    • Hi John, and thanks for asking. I chose to run for Post 6 for a few reasons. The main reason is because of my concerns about the UDC. In her capacity as Community Development liaison, Nancy Diamond has been a major proponent of the UDC. While I agree with the concept of updating and streamlining our zoning in Roswell, I fundamentally disagree with a) the process by which the UDC is being developed, including the lack of true community dialogue and input and the haphazard way that the draft is being changed; b) the approach of increasing density by removing density restrictions in many categories, increasing lot coverages, and reducing setbacks without considering and discussing impacts on infrastructure, particularly traffic; and c) the very real possibility of more apartments in Roswell as a result of the UDC. Multi-family housing is conditional (that is, it requires Council approval through a process of hearings, etc), but the conditions aren’t very strong, there are no caps on the number/ratio of apartments, and there is no density restriction on one category of apartments. I think that the UDC could be good for Roswell, but not in its present form or at its current trajectory. I’m also passionate about engaging with the community — which can be challenging, to be sure — and Nancy has made comments to the effect that because it is challenging, reaching out to people is not possible or not worth trying. I disagree with that attitude. I hope that helps, and thank you!

  3. Though retired now from RHS after 30 years of teaching, I remember a certain Kendra Myers in one of my AP US History classes. I live in Rome,GA now but am very proud to see that you’re back in Roswell getting involved as you always did. Roswell is lucky to have you. Best of luck in the run off.

    • Mister Doctor Terry Sir — thank you for finding me! My foray into civics was instructive on many levels. It’s good to be home — we’ll see what happens next. Part of me wishes you’d stay at RHS another, I don’t know, 9 years so you can teach my little girl, but that’s just selfish of me! You gave me many gifts, in the classroom and out. Please give my best to your family!

  4. Hi Kendra, I live in Historic Roswell and am witnessing the deleterious effects of a weak UDC and an even weaker city council. What is going on is breaking my heart, and it can be stopped. It’s sad that if residents aren’t watching, taking notes, and spending ridiculous amounts of time trying to figure out what’s going on, then our city council tends to steam roll what few guidelines are in place. I’m amazed at how the Historic Preservation Act, a law AND the HPC’s charter, is totally disregarded. Have you considered running again?? PLEASE DO!!!!!! You will have support!

    • Sally, thank you so much for noticing what’s going on — and I share your frustration and heartbreak! I’m not going to run this time around, but I am excited about the potential in some folks who are considering running. There’s definitely a groundswell of dissatisfaction and frustration in Roswell, especially as more and more yellow signs go up and more and more people are mobilizing as they see how they’re being directly affected by Roswell’s zoning. There is the possibility for change! Thank you for thinking of me. I hope that we can all work together to get real representation for Roswell’s residents over on Hill Street!
