Video: Improving the UDC Process

“It’s hard to hit a moving target …”  The Unified Development Code (UDC) is designed to update and clarify Roswell’s zoning. It’s a critically important document that will guide our development and redevelopment for the foreseeable future. The process of creating the UDC began about two years ago.  Many of the meetings about this document have been “open to the public,” and public input has always been “welcome,” but the process has lacked true dialogue and engagement with the community.  This video offers suggestions for utilizing a “notice and comment period,” which will ensure that the voices of the community are truly incorporated into this incredibly important process and product.

* An important note: since this video was created, the UDC timeline has been extended.  An approval date of mid-March 2014 is now anticipated.  This extension is helpful, but does not address systemic concerns regarding how, and whether, public input is incorporated into the process and the product.  Additionally, since this video was created, the Roswell Business Alliance has been renamed Roswell INC.
